Falmouth, MA – Jason Thresher of Connecticut won back-to-back titles at The Mass Open played this year at TGC at Sacconnessett in Falmouth. Thresher followed up his 2016 victory at Worcester Country Club with a 7 under score over 54 holes at the Rees Jones designed TGC at Sacconnessett. Thresher becomes only the 8th golfer in the storied history of the Mass Open to win back-to-back titles. Thresher had to battle with Josh Salah from Bass Rocks GC and Chris Houston throughout the day but both would finish two shots back.
Thresher started his final round with two birdies in the first three holes. It wouldn’t come easy though as Salah would make three birdies (on the 9th , 11th and 12th ) that would actually put him in the lead. Salah would sit and wait in the clubhouse at 5 under hoping that would be enough. Thresher would make birdie on 11, 14 and 15 on his way to a back nine 33 and clear the field by two shots. Thresher takes home $15,000 for his work from the $75,000 purse. He also gets and exemption and free entry to the 2017 Goslings Invitational to be played in Bermuda November 27th to December 1st at Port Royal Golf Course and Belmont Hills.
