Nail biting finish to 2014 Gosling’s Invitational

The Tournament ended once again as a nail biting finish to see PH Horgan culminate his week-long lead at the top of the Professional Division with a combined total of 66-69-68-68–271 9 under par. Bill Walsh continued the pressure right down to the wire challenging Horgan, however finishing just short with 70-68-65-71–274, 6 under par, followed closely by Brian McCann at a combined total of 273 5 under par.

The Senior Professional Division’s winner Donny Jarvis carded a 73-73-78-75–299, with a 19 over par. Jarvis, John Rushnell at 22 over and John Brott at 28 over, take home the first, second and third place combined $5,000 Senior prize purse, which was reinstituted this year.

Steven DeCosta, after a remarkable week and heading into the final round in 4th place overall, took home the Amateur Division title after leading his division all week with a 71-69-70-79–289 9 over par, with a decided lead over the rest of his division. Mark Phillips placed second with 27 over par, followed by visitor Neil Higgins at 40 over par.

Glenn Kelley, after years of returning to the Gosling’s Invitational, won the Senior Open Division today after leading all week. Kelley carded an admirable 73-73-76-77–299 +19, well ahead of the second place multiple winner Hav Trott at 32 over par and Max Atherden’s 42 over par.

Our thanks and congratulations to everyone who has returned year and after year to support the Gosling’s Invitational and who have helped make it another memorable and attention grabbing week. To our new participants, we hope this week made your first Gosling’s experience one that will bring you back again to make the Gosling’s a must in your golf tournament calendar.

We look forward to welcoming you back in 2015.
